School votes set for Tuesday

PLATTSBURGH -- It's vote day at schools around the North Country.
District voters will decide whether to approve the school budget and who to seat on local school boards.
Here's a brief look at each district's budget, along with a list of candidates and voting places:
AuSABLE VALLEY
Proposed 2008-09 budget amount: $25,973,503, up 4.3 percent.
Tax levy (amount to be raised by taxes): $10,401,597, up 3.9 percent.
Tax rate per $1,000 of assessed value: District said it can't set tax rates until the assessment rolls are finalized.
School Board candidates: Robert Douglas running unopposed for a three-year term. Running for an unexpired two-year term are William Localio, James Martineau Jr., Susan Richards and Peter Vincent.
Vote: Noon to 9 p.m. in the Middle/High School auditorium.
BEEKMANTOWN
Proposed 2008-09 budget amount: $36,149,436, up 2.42 percent.
Tax levy (amount to be raised by taxes): $16,791,754, up 4.47 percent.
Tax rate per $1,0000 of assessed value: Estimated to increase .37 cents to $17.58.
School Board candidates (two five-year seats): Richard Lavigne, Terry Lynn Savage and Steve Trombley.
Propositions: Authorize the renovation of district infrastructure at a cost not to exceed $6,655,455.
