State unemployment decreases to 4.5 percent in February

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in February, down from 5 percent in January.
The state's unemployment rate was 4.4 percent last February.
State Labor Department officials reported Thursday that New York City's unemployment rate was 4.1 in February. That's down from 5.7 percent in January and 4.8 percent in February 2007.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 4.8 in February.
Schoharie County had the highest unemployment rate among individual counties with 8.8 percent. The lowest county employment rate — 3.5 — was recorded in Tompkins County.
