PLATTSBURGH — Jimmy Langley was once again named as chairman of the Clinton County Legislature.

Langley (R-Area 7, Peru) was unanimously chosen as chairman for 2009 at Wednesday night's organizational meeting.

He was first named chair in 2001.

"He leads in a forthright manner and is respected by all," Sam Trombley (R-Area 2, Ellenburg) said in nominating Langley for the post.

Robert Butler (R-Area 6, Saranac) was renamed as deputy chairman, and Trombley was renamed majority leader.

John Gallagher (D-Area 9, City of Plattsburgh) was renamed as minority leader.

William Favreau was named as the new county attorney.

Favreau replaces Dennis Curtin, who left late last year to pursue another career.

Legislators also appointed Richard Cantwell as the administrator of indigent defendants, Sherm Hamel as director for Off-Track Betting and Rolland Guay as clerk of Bangs and Bovine.

All terms are for 2009.

Legislative committee assignments for 2009 will be made in the next few weeks.
